Description

Ticket to Ride: London is a quick and engaging version of the classic Ticket to Ride game series, featuring a smaller map of 1970s London that allows players to complete a game in just 15 minutes.

Each player starts with a supply of 17 double-decker buses, two transportation cards in hand, and one or two destination tickets that showcase locations in London. On a turn, players can either draw two transportation cards from the deck or the display of five face-up cards (or take one face-up bus, which counts as all six colors in the game); or claim a route on the board by discarding cards that match the color of the route being claimed (with any set of cards allowing you to claim a gray route); or draw two destination tickets and keep at least one of them.

The game continues with players taking turns until one player has no more than two buses left in their supply. At this point, each player takes one final turn, including the player who triggered the end of the game. Afterward, players tally their points, scoring points for (1) the routes they have claimed during the game, (2) the destination tickets they have completed (by connecting the two locations on a ticket via a continuous line of their buses), and (3) the districts they have connected. (A district consists of 2-4 locations, and players score 1-5 points for a district if they link all of its locations to one another with their buses.) Points are deducted for any uncompleted destination tickets, and the player with the highest score wins the game!

Ticket to Ride: London offers a fast-paced and enjoyable gameplay experience while maintaining the core elements that make the original Ticket to Ride series accessible and entertaining for players.

How to Play

In the game Ticket to Ride: London, designed by Alan R. Moon, players aim to score the most points by claiming routes, completing destination tickets, and connecting districts. The game setup includes placing the board map in the center, distributing colored plastic buses and scoring markers to each player, dealing starting hands, and placing destination ticket cards near the board.

On a player's turn, they can perform one of three actions: draw transportation cards, claim a route, or draw destination ticket cards. Transportation cards include colored cards and multi-colored bus cards, which act as wild cards. When claiming a route, a player must discard a number of cards from their hand equal to the number of spaces in the route and place a plastic bus on each of those spaces.

The game ends when a player has two or fewer plastic buses left, and each player gets one last turn before final scoring. Players score points for claimed routes, completed destination tickets, and completed districts. The player with the most points wins, with ties broken by the player who completed the most destination ticket cards. If players are still tied, they happily share the victory.
